Dr. Rodrigues is the principal investigator of the STATA Trial (Strategy of Transfusion in Trauma Patients, a Random Study -NCT02416817) currently underway at the Univerity of Sao Paulo General Hospital.  Her presentation, "Trauma and Transfusion", will discuss an overview of trauma transfusion protocols along with some of the preliminary results of her trial.
Dr. Tobin is Director of Trauma Anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Southern California, as well as specializing in critical care medicine. Dr. Tobin is also a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He has completed three combat deployments in a variety of conventional and special operations assignments. Â He will introduce the topic "The Traumatized Airway" and the following presenters, Dr. Smith and Dr. Nordmann.
As Director of Trauma Anesthesia at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Smith is an expert in trauma anesthesia and resuscitation.  He's also editor of two textbooks on trauma anesthesia, author of hundreds of abstracts and other peer reviewed publications, a member of the ASA Patient Blood Management Committee, board certified in Periop TEE, and founding member of the TAS.  His presentation, "Initial Care and Management of the Traumatized Airway", will be centered upon evaluation and management of the patient with a traumatized airway. Â
Dr. Nordmann will give a case presentation focusing on the traumatized airway. Dr. Nordmann is an anaesthetist (anesthesiologist) from the UK military who has completed several deployments on the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT); a physician based prehospital evacuation platform.  He is also  a pediatric anesthesiologist with significant expertise in the treatment of trauma induced coagulopathy.
